We realize that each child is unique and treatment recommendations to each child should be personalized. In Aquarius Dental we always try to create the most positive dental visit possible for your child; We have created an inviting, child friendly dental office with our professional and friendly staff. We value the continuing education and Dr. Oonchi has advanced training in Children Dentistry and Certificate to administer sedation for children and minors from University of Southern California. Sedation Dentistry, sometimes called Relaxation Dentistry, refers to the way dentists manage Pain and Anxiety during dental appointments. Unlike General Anesthesia where a patient is completely unconscious, asleep, and unable to respond, patients under Conscious Sedation, are able to respond to commands and breathe on their own.We Use oral Medication and Nitrous Oxide or Laughing gas for the most of anxious patients.
Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas is an extremely safe adjunct often used by dentists to reduce the apprehension and nervousness associated with dental procedures. Our dentists are specially trained in the administration of nitrous oxide allowing your child to have dental treatment completed safely in the dental office setting while remaining fully awake. Nitrous Oxide induces a feeling of warmth and security, gives most children a pleasant “floating” sensation, and reduces sensations during dental treatment. In addition, its effects are absolutely reversible within minutes, allowing your child to return safely to school that same day.
frequently referred to as conscious sedation, involves the administration of one mild sedatives, usually in combination with nitrous oxide (laughing gas). This form of sedation allows for a more profound level of relaxation and calmness than with nitrous oxide alone, yet allows the child to remain awake during the procedure and have their treatment completed in our office. Before administrating any sedatives, our experienced team will educate you about the process of sedation, and all necessary instructions.
In Aquarius dental we only recommend general anesthesia to perform dental treatments only if it is needed. To keep your child safe and comfortable during a dental procedure, we might decide to use general anesthesia in the operating room. General anesthesia also may be used if your child needs extensive or complicated procedures that will take a long time to complete, or needs multiple procedures done all at the same time. An anesthesiologist — a dentist who specializes in anesthesia — will give your child the medications that will make him or her sleep soundly during the procedure. General anesthesia makes your child’s whole body go to sleep. It is needed for certain dental procedures and treatments so that his or her reflexes will be completely relaxed. Your child will feel no pain during the procedure, nor have any memory of it.When anesthesia is needed, there are special rules for eating and drinking at home before the procedure. Your child will have some restrictions after the procedure.
